About IIHT Kannur

Indian Institute of Handloom Technology-Kannur, is one among the 10 IIHTs which is an autonomous Institute under industries department, Govt of Kerala and the nodal agency in the state for providing science and Technology to the traditional Handlooms and textile Industry. The Institute was established and registered under Societies registration Act of 1860 in the year 1987 named as Handloom Training Institute (HTI) and then upgraded as Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology (IHTT). Now IHTT is amalgamated to Indian institute of Handloom Technology-Kannur (IHTT-K), which is working on the guidelines of State Govt. and Indian Institute of Handloom Technologies (IIHTs), Ministry of Textile, Govt of India for Industrial Intervention in the north of Kerala. Our activities are also operated from Balaramapuram,south of Kerala.

Our Mission

Promoting support to textile industry through creation of professionals, R&D, Training to develop skills, implementation of various Govt. schemes, introducing upgraded technologies in various branches of textile and allied industries to enable them to excel and contribute for the economic growth of the Kerala state .
